It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the recent death of Ricky Constantine. Ricky was one of the AMA's longest serving members having joined the then AKA in 1970.
A former pupil of Grandmaster T Suzuki he achieved the following titles in his long career;
1969. National Kumite Champion. 1970. National & European Champion. 1971. National Champion 1973. National, Internation & European Champion. Gold Medalist. International Championship. Japan v Gt Britain.
Students of Ricky included the actors, the late Peter Sellars and Michael Cain as well as members of the Jordanian Royal Family.
Ricky was the Senior Instuctor for Ashin Do Kai Internatial Martial Arts Academy and was a popular and respected Coach at all AMA and UK competitions. His group has produced many Champions over the years. They won numerous Gold medals in 2008 including 3 at the World Championships in Sweden as well as 4 gold medals and several Silver and Bronze at the AMA Nationals at Sheffield. May I, on behalf of both the AMA Executive and AMA Karate Technical Committees, send our sincerest condolences to Rickys family as well as to all his Instructors and students at Ashindo Kai.
He will be greatly missed.
